What is TVWD doing to prepare for natural disasters and other emergencies?
TVWD has a multi-prong approach to preparedness:
The Willamette Water Supply System is being carefully engineered and built to better withstand natural disasters, protect public health, and speed recovery in emergencies.
Multiple water sources, redundancies and regional interconnectivity to allow us to distribute and receive water in multiple ways. We also have emergency water distribution trailers and cooperative agreements with neighboring water providers to share resources in emergencies.
Automated controls and backup systems can run our system temporarily without the need for water operators.
Staff regularly participate in emergency drills, training and exercises.
