Alfred St. Main Replacement

What is TVWD doing?

TVWD will replace nearly 1,800 feet of water main serving customers on SW Alfred St. between Ventura Court and 69th Avenue, and a limited section of Ventura Court in a cul-de-sac. This water main replacement is being done to increase fireflow to this area and upgrading infrastructure with a history of leaks. The new water main on Alfred Court will be 8-inch ductile iron, replacing the current 4-inch water main, and new 4-inch water main on 69th Avenue will replace the current 2-inch water main. 

When finished, this project will improve the water system in this area, including reducing the need for future maintenance projects and emergency repairs this area.  This project is a nearly $550,000 investment in the water system serving this area.

Construction Information

Construction of the new water main will start December 4 and last a few months, however, all timelines are subject to change.

TVWD will make efforts to limit noise, dust, and other construction experiences for neighboring customers, though noise, dust, and other disruptions should still be expected throughout. Please send any construction feedback to Outreach@TVWD.org so we can improve our operations.

How does this affect me?

Water Service Disruptions

Once the new water main is installed, individual water services will be connected to the new line. Your water will be temporarily turned off for 60-90 minutes to connect your business to the new main. When the entire project is complete, TVWD will disconnect the original water main from the system. That process requires a service disruption of four to six hours.

Water service disruptions are scheduled in the middle of the day when most residents are away from home. It is TVWD's goal to minimize the water service disruption time for all customers. You will be notified at least 48 hours in advance when service disruptions are planned.

Due to the size of this project, certain customers may experience multiple service disruptions. 

Traffic Disruptions

Vehicular and pedestrian access within the project area will be limited during construction. Vehicles, heavy equipment and materials will be located in the work area and outside of work hours, will be staged at the east end of Alfred St. and Ventura Ct. These areas will be clearly marked with cones and/or caution tape. Staging equipment at the work site reduces the number of trips our large diesel trucks will need between TVWD and the work site.

General Construction Disruptions

Installing water system equipment requires digging underground, this is often very loud and generates significant dust and vibration.
