About Hydrant Permits

Hydrant Permits allow inspected and approved customer water tank trucks/trailers to access predetermined hydrants throughout TVWD's service area. These hydrants are designated with green painted caps/tops. To learn more about obtaining a hydrant permit, see our FAQ section below.

Unauthorized hydrant use and/or use of a non-approved (un-inspected) tank is subject to the penalties listed in our Bulk Water Rates.

Green Cap Hydrant

Green cap identifies hydrants which permitted tanks may fill from.

Hydrant Wrench

Hydrant Wrench - TVWD requires only hydrant wrenches be used to operate hydrants.  A hydrant wrench must accompany the vehicle/tank at the time of inspection.

Chapman Gate Vavle

Chapman (gate) valve - TVWD requires chapman valves be used to regulate flow from its hydrants.  A chapman valve must accompany the vehicle/tank at the time of inspection.

Failed Air Gap 1

This tank did not pass inspection.  The fill pipe extends into the tank and there is no air gap separation.  Modification were required.

Failed Air Gap 2

This tank did not pass inspection.  Although an air gap exists, it does not meet the State and TVWD requirements to be twice the distance of the diameter of the fill pipe. Modifications were required.
